“Sir, satellite link three just went dark over Sector 4,” whispered Captain James Reynolds, stepping out of the mobile command unit. “And we’ve got two civilian vehicles trailing the rear guard. No plates, high-gain antennas.”
Miller’s grip tightened on his field tablet. Satellite imagery captured moments before the blackout showed an unauthorized armored unit assembling just six miles across the frontier—bearing markings that belonged to neither Ukrainian nor Russian forces. Even stranger, a locked, unmarked titanium container sat in the lead HIMARS transport, secured with biometric seals that Miller’s own security clearance couldn’t unlock.
“We aren’t just delivering firepower, Captain,” Miller muttered, watching the headlights cut through the thick mist. “We’re dropping a match into a powder keg someone else prepared.”
By 03:00 hours, the convoy crossed the checkpoint under strict radio silence. But as the last Javelin-loaded truck cleared the gate, two remote detonations echoed across the valley, cutting main power to the border grid. The crates are at the line, the blackout is total, and the unknown unit is moving in.
