Inside the lead Bradley, Captain James Miller slammed his fist against the console as static screamed through his headset. Outside, the steel leviathaning column stretched for miles down Route 77, diesel fumes thick in the night air. The mission parameters handed down at 0200 hours had been brutally clear: secure Sector 4 immediately. Yet, as they crossed into the perimeter, his navigation display glitched, replaced by an encrypted flash from an unknown source.
“Cap, central grid isn’t responding,” Sergeant Vance yelled over the rumble of the 600-horsepower engine. “Every radar tower ahead just went black. Pentagon feeds are completely dead.”
