Lieutenant Commander David Miller gripped the collective pitch stick, his eyes scanning the green-tinted night-vision display as his AH-64 Apache cut through the humid Gulf air. Beside him, Chief Warrant Officer Marcus Vance checked the telemetry of the new wing-mounted pods. The hardware wasn’t listed in any standard naval aviation manual.
“System’s active, Chief,” Vance whispered through the comms, his voice tight. “Telemetry is reading clean, but thermal imaging is picking up an anomaly three miles out.”
“Clear thermal?” Miller asked, adjusting his helmet module. “That’s non-military signature traffic.”
“Negative, Boss. It’s sitting dead in the water, zero radar reflection, but radiating immense electromagnetic output. Just like the briefing notes warned.”
Before Miller could process the anomaly, the cockpit display flickered violently.
