\u201cI assumed her husband already understood what kind of officer she was.\u201d<\/p>\n
The words landed harder than a shout.<\/p>\n
Ryan\u2019s face collapsed.<\/p>\n
Margaret moved toward me again.<\/p>\n

She reached for my arm.<\/p>\n
