Dad stared at me.<\/p>\n

Everyone stood motionless as the team boarded.<\/p>\n

His eyes lifted.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo you hid from me?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI built something you couldn\u2019t arrange.\u201d<\/p>\n

He rubbed both hands over his face.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought you rejected the path because you were afraid.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI rejected it because I wanted to know who I was without your shadow.\u201d<\/p>\n

Silence stretched between us.<\/p>\n

Then he said the words I had stopped expecting.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

I waited.<\/p>\n

He continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cI confused obedience with strength. When you stopped obeying me, I decided you must be weak.\u201d<\/p>\n
