Meredith Gaudreau, the widow of late NHL star Johnny Gaudreau, has welcomed their third child.
She shared the heartwarming news on social media Monday, posting a sweet photo holding her newborn and revealing a touching tribute to the baby’s late father.
“I had our third baby!” Meredith wrote, announcing that her son was born on April 1, 2025.

“Another baby boy 🥹💙 Carter Michael Gaudreau — same middle name as his daddy. 8 lbs 3 ounces, 20.5 inches — exactly the same as his daddy. He looks just like him too 🥰,” she continued.
“I love you so much, my baby! We are going to have so much fun. I can’t wait to give you the best life — my special boy forever.”
Carter’s arrival comes just seven months after a tragic accident that took the lives of Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew Gaudreau. The two were struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver while riding their bikes, according to police reports.
Meredith first announced her pregnancy during a memorial service for the brothers last September.
“John and I had the best six months as a family of four. Those will forever be the best six months of my life,” she said during the service. “There’s one week in particular I’ll always cherish — my favorite week of all. Because actually, we’re a family of five. I’m in my ninth week of pregnancy with our third baby.”
She described the pregnancy as a “total surprise.”
“John was beaming with joy and so excited,” she recalled. “His reaction was to immediately kiss me and hug me.”
Meredith and Johnny already shared two children together: Noa Harper Gaudreau, 2, and Johnny Edward Gaudreau, 1.
Matthew Gaudreau’s wife, Madeline Gaudreau, also welcomed a baby — Tripp Matthew — in December.
